Welcome to Pattern: Spotlight on Jeremy Kean, Chief Operating Officer
Author: Ashley Grodnitzky
We’re excited to welcome Jeremy Kean as Chief Operating Officer at Pattern Data, where he’ll lead our next stage of operational growth and customer success.
Jeremy has spent the last two decades in digital health and B2B SaaS, leading operations teams through hypergrowth phases; including multiple successful scale-ups that reached nine-figure ARR. Jeremy brings deep expertise in building organizations that deliver both exceptional customer outcomes, sustainable growth, and guiding teams through rapid scale while keeping people, process, and purpose aligned.
Why Pattern — and Why Now
“It’s rare to find a company that’s both scaling and cash-flow positive, with a clear mission and an incredible team already in place,” Jeremy said when asked what drew him to Pattern.
He was intrigued by Pattern’s niche focus on transforming how mass tort law firms utilize data to drive decisions throughout the litigation lifecycle. “I’ve always been drawn to highly specialized industries,” Jeremy shared. “What Pattern is doing to apply advanced AI systems and analytics to optimize how legal teams work is both complex and exciting. It’s a space where execution matters, and the opportunity to build on Pattern’s momentum is huge.”
What sealed the decision?
“The people,” Jeremy said “Everyone I met during the process was transparent, candid, and fully bought into the mission. That level of alignment is rare, and it’s the foundation of great culture." He was equally impressed by cofounders Matt Francis (CEO) and James Nix (CPO), who've created an industry-leading product while cultivating deep strategic customer relationships.
Building for Scale, Clarity, and Impact
In his first weeks, Jeremy hit the ground running, aligning on key priorities to strengthen delivery and scale for what’s ahead. He’s focused on tightening process, defining the full customer journey, and ensuring that every step from sales to delivery reinforces Pattern’s commitment to excellence.
“Process only matters when it drives clarity and impact,” he said. “At Pattern, that means ensuring every workflow, every handoff, every decision adds value — to our clients, to our people, and to the outcomes we deliver.”
Maintaining culture through growth is also top of mind. “Stage fit matters. We will move fast, we will act with intention, and be customer-obsessed. That bias to action and ownership is what keeps startups special. My goal is to scale that without losing the core DNA that got us here.”
Leadership Philosophy
Jeremy’s leadership approach is grounded in transparency, accountability, and growth.
“I believe people do their best work when they understand the ‘why,’ feel empowered to act, and know they’re supported to learn along the way. Mistakes are part of growth — just don’t make the same one twice.”
He brings a structured approach to setting goals, helping teams aim high while maintaining a clear focus. “Aspirational goals move the business forward,” he said. It’s not about hitting 100% every time, it’s about learning, iterating, and staying aligned around what matters most; and that creates a culture of ownership.”
A Personal Note
Outside of work, Jeremy stays grounded through family and routine. Married for over 20 years and a father of four, he starts most mornings before sunrise to work out or read. “That quiet time helps me show up better for everyone else,” he said.
And as he tells it, life at home keeps him balanced: “With four kids, there’s no shortage of perspective. I work to live, not the other way around.”
Looking Ahead
Jeremy joins at a pivotal moment for Pattern as the company continues to expand its footprint in mass tort data intelligence, strengthen delivery, and scale impact across legal operations.
“The next chapter is about precision. Tightening what we do best, scaling thoughtfully, and keeping the client experience front and center,” he said. “There’s a lot of opportunity in front of us, and the energy here is incredible. I’m thrilled to be part of what’s next.”
